Unpolish started as a weekend hack. The founder — a long-time Reddit user and indie hacker — noticed that AI-generated comments were getting roasted in every subreddit. The tell-tale signs were everywhere: perfect paragraph structure, no typos, polished transitions, zero slang.
The problem wasn't that AI was being used. The problem was that nobody bothered to make it sound natural. That's the gap Unpolish fills.

Once installed, navigate to any Reddit post and click the Unpolish icon. The overlay will appear with your intent options.
Unpolish uses your own LLM API keys so your data never flows through our servers. Supported providers:
When you open the overlay on a Reddit page, Unpolish reads the subreddit name from the URL and applies a community profile. These profiles set baseline formality, slang density, and emoji tolerance.
You can override the detected profile manually from the overlay's settings panel.
Unpolish supports Ollama for completely local, private generation with zero API costs. Install Ollama, pull a model, and point Unpolish to your local endpoint.

Unpolish ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. We use this only to manage your account and send transactional emails (billing, plan changes, important notices).
We collect aggregate generation counts to enforce plan limits (e.g., 10/day on Free). We do not store the content of your generations.
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in to the dashboard. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.
We use Dodo Payments for payment processing. Dodo Payments has its own privacy policy. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard under Settings → Danger Zone, or DM the founder.
